About White Crane

White Crane provides kids and adults of all ages the opportunity to learn traditional Okinawan Karate and Kobudo (weapons) as well as Japanese Aiki Budo (Aikido, Ju Jutsu, etc).  We welcome, and encourage, all fitness levels and abilities: training at White Crane can work for everyone!

We offer a very welcoming, family-based atmosphere, aiming to help you reach your goals. We are committed to providing the very best in traditional martial arts training. We are also a non-competitive school. Students are encouraged to participate in tournaments, however it is not necessary. They are encouraged to go for the experience, not for medals (medals are just kind of an added benefit).

The Right School For You

With 20+ years of experience, it’s easy to see why head instructor, Renshi Matthew Butler, is so well respected in the martial arts community. White Crane offers an opportunity that is truly unique.

Rather than one formal discipline in a cookie cutter mold, our students have the option to train under more than one discipline. We create a perfectly balanced blend of traditional martial arts, philosophy, meditation, and respect.

Training Is A Wonderful Gift

The education you will receive at White Crane empowers kids and adults of all ages, while also instilling in them:

  • Confidence
  • Self-Defense Techniques
  • Discipline
  • Respect
  • Patience
  • Endurance
  • Leadership
  • Situational Awareness
  • Better health

These practices teach us to be humble, compassionate, confident, mindful, and kind.  They also provide many physical benefits, such as strength, coordination, flexibility, and agility.

We believe this is a lifelong practice where the training never ends, rather, it progresses and evolves.

One of the biggest lessons Renshi Matthew Butler's teacher taught him about the martial arts was that it should teach you to be a good person, to be an example.

We kindly ask that you view your Martial Arts training as a lifelong education, and choose your school using the same criteria you would use while choosing any traditional education program.
